Citabria 7KCAB Mason's Flight Training Co. provides tailwheel transition, flight reviews, stall/spin awareness, and unusual attitude training in a 1972 Citabria 7KCAB aircraft. The airplane is equipped with inverted fuel and oil. The Citabria makes an excellent training airplane. The tandem seating provides adequate room for the pilots and great visibility. While it is true that the Citabria is not considered the best of aerobatic airplanes because of its flat bottom wing and heavy control forces, those traits make it excellent for unusual attitude training. Simply put, if all you have been taught is to roll a Pitts right side up from inverted, you will be unpleasantly surprised if you find yourself upside down in a Cessna 172. Tailwheel instruction is becoming harder to find in all parts of the county. This is attributed to not only a decrease in the amount of instructors qualified to teach in tailwheel airplanes, but probably more to the unwillingness of insurance companies to provide coverage for instruction in tailwheel airplanes. Mason's Flight Training Co. is thankful to have found Travers & Associates Insurance Company in St. Louis that was able and willing to provide coverage. They provide very competitive rates for all types of aircraft. I can not recommend them enough! |
